EMGLCA's By Laws
Article I
The title of the organization is Eastern Massachusetts Girl’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (EMGLCA). The electronic mail address is www.emglca.org.
Article II
The purpose of this organization shall be:
- To promote girls lacrosse by providing information and education to Eastern Massachusetts Girls Lacrosse High School coaches.
- To promote sportsmanship between coaches and provide opportunities for professional growth.
- To elect a liaison to facilitate communication with the Massachusetts
Interscholastic Athletic Association. - To maintain the highest possible standards in girl’s lacrosse coaching.
- To facilitate public relations and communications so as to promote and publicize girl’s lacrosse.
- To study proposed rule changes and make recommendations to the Eastern Massachusetts Women’s Lacrosse Umpires Association and to the US Lacrosse Rules Committee.
- To collaborate with Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse- Girl’s league and sponsor an annual Coaches Clinic for youth and high school coaches.
- To elect representatives to:
A. attends the Lower New England Chapter of US Lacrosse meetings.
B. participate in selections and coaching of the Lower New England High School Regional Team which participates in the Annual National Women’s Lacrosse Tournament.
C. participates in the All America Selection process. - To support student-athletes through yearly scholarships, if sufficient funds are available.
Article III
Membership in this organization shall be open to Eastern Massachusetts varsity girl’s lacrosse public high school coaches. Annual membership extends from January 1 to December 31. Annual dues for membership are $25.00.
Article IV
EMGLCA Board.
The Board shall consist of a director, a secretary/ web coordinator, a treasurer and a representative from each league. Leagues will rotate annually committee chair responsibilities. Committee chairs may be a league representative or be a volunteer from the league responsible for a given committee. The current chair positions are: New England Lacrosse Chapter representative, MIAA representative, Coaches Clinic representative, Lower New England Team selection representative, All America selection representative, and All Scholastic representative.
Article V
EMGLCA is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.
Article VI
No part of the net earnings of the organization shall inure to the benefit of, or be distributable to its members, trustees, officers, or other private persons, except that the organization shall be authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered and to make payments and distributions in furtherance of the purposes set forth in the purpose clause hereof. Notwithstanding any other provision of this document, the organization shall not carry on any other activities not permitted to be carried on (a) by an organization exempt from federal income tax under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code, or (b) by an organization, contributions to which are deductible under section 170(c) (2) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.
